Artist Bio: Born in 1980 in Karachi, Pakistan, Asif Ahmed graduated with distinction from the National College of Arts, Lahore, majoring in Miniature Painting in 2004. That same year, he was awarded the prestigious Ustad Haji Sharif Award for best miniature artist of his graduating batch. Since then, his work has been showcased in solo and group exhibitions across Pakistan and internationally, with appearances in France, Oman, Morocco, India, the UK, Japan, Dubai, Singapore, Switzerland, Beirut, and the USA. His paintings have also been auctioned at Sotheby’s London and SaffronArt, further establishing his place in the contemporary art scene. He currently lives and works in Karachi.
For Asif, miniature art is not just a medium but the very subject of inquiry in his practice. Drawing on historical symbolism and figures, he creates surfaces that question the relevance and evolution of traditional iconography in the modern world.
